Formal Protest against the malicious, defamatory, and politically motivated actions of Dr. Tapas Pramanick.
The Joint Platform of Doctors (JPD), WB representing the unified voice of the largest section of medical fraternity in West Bengal, issues this formal statement to condemn the persistent, perverted, and malicious attempts by Dr. Tapas Pramanick, a Government Medical Officer attached to RGKMC, to tarnish the dignity of this platform and the medical community at large.
I. Background of Serial Misconduct: Since October 2025, Dr. Pramanick has engaged in a continuous campaign of vitriol on social media, utilizing concocted facts and misinformation to target the JPD. Specifically, he has sought to undermine the historic Abhaya Movement—a movement led by JPD on the streets and in the courts since August 9, 2024, to seek justice for our fallen colleague.
While the JPD initially exercised restraint to maintain professional decorum and social bondage, Dr. Pramanick’s recent actions have transgressed all tolerable thresholds. Following a strongly concocted post aimed at defaming the JPD and its constituent organization, the West Bengal Doctors Forum (WBDF), he has now resorted to legal harassment by filing a baseless FIR at Tala PS against Dr. Koushik Chaki, Hony. President of WBDF and a frontline activist of JPD. In response to these false allegations, Dr. Chaki has formally lodged a diary with the law enforcement agency at Bidhannagar.
II. Violation of Service Rules and ECI Directives: It has come to our unanimous notice that Dr. Pramanick, a Group-A Government Officer, has been overtly and actively participating in political campaigning for various candidates of a specific political party. Such actions constitute a gross lapse of professional conduct, insubordination, and a direct violation of Election Commission of India (ECI) Directives and the Order issued by the Chief Secretary, Govt. of West Bengal, dated 30.03.2026.
The JPD has already moved a serious complaint before the Chief Secretary and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), urging immediate and strictest disciplinary action for these violations.
III. Our Ideological Stand: The JPD reaffirms to the public that since its inception in 2018, it has remained a non-partisan conglomeration. While our members may hold diverse individual beliefs, our collective mission is singular: the dignity and rights of doctors and patients. We work tirelessly to end the travesty of justice and protect caregivers from professional and social assaults. Our commitment to the Abhaya Movement is fueled by unwavering ideological conviction, not by political dividends or partisan gain.
IV. The Ultimatum: The Joint Platform of Doctors hereby demands that —-
▪︎ Let Dr. Tapas Pramanick tender an unconditional written apology for his serial offensive and defamatory comments against the JPD and its leadership.
▪︎ Immediately withdraw all such derogatory posts from social media platforms.
▪︎ Cease all illegal political activities that are inconsistent with his status as a Government Officer.
Failure to comply with these demands within 48 hours of this statement will compel the JPD to initiate stringent legal proceedings and administrative escalations. Dr. Pramanick shall be held solely responsible for the subsequent legal and professional fallout.
