An Open Letter to Kolkata Police

Dear Kolkata Police,

You seem to have abandoned all sense of proportion and subscribed to delusion.

50+ legal notices and summons. 15+ doctors: Medical Students, Junior doctors, Senior Doctors and even their family members.Most of them receiving 7,8, even 9 each.For what? For a peaceful protest demanding Justice for Abhaya

Let us help you refresh your memory:

In 2024, the Abhaya movement tore your mask off. It exposed your rot.That same movement, born of grief and conscience, toppled the powerful you shielded.

And today you dare to brand it as “organised crime”?

Is this your definition of justice? Snatching doctors from hospitals, crippling patient care?Every time you drag a doctor away from duty, patients wait, emergencies are delayed, and healthcare collapses.

Is this policing or vengeance? Do you wish to wage a war with the medical community?

Let us remind you YOUR role in the ABHAYA case:

• Sanjay Rai, the primary accused, was YOUR employee.

• YOU hurried Abhaya’s cremation

• YOU failed to preserve the crime scene so blatantly that even the Supreme Court observed it was “altered.”

• YOU were mute spectators on 14th August 2024, around midnight, when a planfully implanted violent mob vandalised R.G.Kar, tried to destroy the Chest Seminar Room while threatening to rape and murder doctors and nurses?

• YOUR officials begged shelter from US on that fateful night.

• YOU lathicharged her grieving mother,

• YOU were instrumental in erasing evidence, and attempted at buying silence.

What conspiracy were YOU protecting then? And who now?

One year later, instead of delivering justice, you are targeting doctors and students with politically loaded, repetitive questions, and slapping arbitrary BNSS sections, even non-bailable ones.This is harassment in the garb of an investigation. Doctors posted in Malda, Purulia, Bankura, Darjeeling, and across government hospitals are summoned at short notice, leaving entire systems strained. Is this your service to the people?

WHY SHOULD THE PATIENTS SUFFER IN PURSUIT OF YOUR VINDICTIVE ACTIONS, RATHER INACTIONS.

A year on we are left with more unanswered questions:

What were your actions

Against Sandip Ghosh? Against the fake/ substandard medicine mafia? Against the IV fluids that KILL PATIENTS EVEN TODAY? Despite Health Ministry notifications, YOU seem to choose murdering patients.

KINDLY ALLOW US TO ANSWER WITH HUMILITY: NIL.

PEACEFUL PROTESTORS OF CRIME SEEM TO BE EASIER TO PREY ON.

Here’s OUR challenge:

Please prove that demanding justice is a crime.Every protest was Public AND Constitutional. And no, your notices and threats won’t break us. You cannot intimidate a generation that has seen Abhaya’s blood.

Kindly refrain from testing our patience.

Push us harder, and the courts will see you.
