We are staging a protest outside the college council room, blocking the main gate of the academy building in sheer outrage. This drastic action is a direct response to the college authority’s scandalous decision to exclude our elected student union representative from the enquiry committee. This betrayal is even more infuriating considering the college has previously allowed student representatives on such committees.
The latest twist in this disgraceful saga? Following the RKS (রোগী কল্যাণ সমিতি) meeting, the college authority shamefully caved to a direct order from Sudipta Roy, the TMC MLA and RKS chairman, mandating that enquiry committee meetings be held without any student representatives. This is an utter disgrace, especially since Medical College Kolkata is the only medical college in Kolkata with an elected student union.
This egregious act is a slap in the face to every student who voted and placed their trust in their representatives. The administration’s cowardly submission to external political pressure is not only an insult to our democratic process but also a stark reminder of their disregard for our rights and voices. We demand the immediate reversal of this decision and the reinstatement of our rightful place in the enquiry committee. This injustice will not stand!
Your refusal to allow an elected student representative on the enquiry committee of the college council is nothing short of an outrage! This disgraceful decision spits in the face of democracy and disrespects the entire student body. We have an elected student union for a reason: to ensure our voices are heard and our concerns are addressed. Yet, you blatantly ignore this and choose to operate behind closed doors, shunning transparency and fairness.
This is an appalling display of authoritarianism. By excluding the very people you are supposed to serve, you show utter contempt for the principles of student representation and participatory governance. Your actions reveal a disturbing unwillingness to engage with those who rightfully demand a seat at the table.
This blatant disregard for our democratic rights is unacceptable. The student body will not stand idly by while you trample over our rights and undermine the values this institution should uphold. Reconsider your decision immediately and allow the elected student representative to join the enquiry committee. Failure to do so will only further erode trust and respect between the administration and the students.
