Resident doctors at Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay Medical College and Hospital, Uluberia, have held a pen-down and protest demonstration in response to the incident of physical assault, rape threat and death threats issued to female resident doctors on duty in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department four days ago.
Three persons have been arrested so far, including a traffic police home guard and local ruling party affiliated youth leaders. Two of them are currently in police custody, with the second hearing taking place today at Uluberia court.
The residents are demanding a fair investigation, strict legal action and concrete safety measures within the hospital premises.
