Members of PMSF (Progressive Medicos and Scientists Forum) today visited the ongoing NEET paperleak protest at Jantar Mantar, interacted with their medical team and assessed the condition of activists on including Sonam Wangchuk who is leading the hunger strike.
We expressed our solidarity and views against policy driven erasure of public health and education. Listened to their medical problems and prescribed medicines as needed. We will continue to support the protesters via free on call consultations co-ordinated via the on ground medical team associated with the protests.
We stand with the protesters in their demand to seek justice and accountability for the students who were driven to suicide because of flawed policies, systemic corruption and apathy of the government.
We also demand complete overhaul of public health and education in accordance with the socialist constitutional values enshrined in the constitution of India.
We also demand stricter regulation of unabated privatization, commercialization and corporatization of medical education and healthcare that has alienated many of our citizens from accessible medical care and has turned healthcare from a basic human right into a luxury product.
PMSF stands against these policies which have lead to these student committing suicides while private coaching industry and higher education mafia profited through the years.
