Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage. Entire human race is going through a very tough time in these days. The most intelligent primate and the most dominant species on earth is fighting for existence. Why do we need to fight? Because when the world around us changes for the worse, it’s not just the snap of fingers which will bring it back to the earlier position , it will take courage, thinking, teamwork and sacrifices to bring normalcy to the chaos. Whom do we have to fight against? Do we have to fight against a small microbe? Partially it is true but on a large scenario we are fighting against our own idea-crippling, experience – crushing, success – stalling, inhibitor – inflected…. fear ….
Corona virus /COVID 19 is the name given to that fear. Although this is a controversial topic that whether this virus is discovered or invented yet it is still unknown to us. Professionals are doing their best possible permutations and combinations to restore life. That’s why recovery rate is still much higher than the mortality rate even without any kind of availability of vaccines at this stage.
The courage of our front line warriors is worthy of any kind of praise. Their courage is showing us a way to stop looking for someone else to save us …we are enough…. right now, just as we are….
See how a river tries to overcome her fear in a poetic gesture …
It is said that before entering the sea
a river trembles with fear.
She looks back at the path she has traveled,
from the peaks of the mountains,
the long winding road crossing forests and villages.
And in front of her,
she sees an ocean so vast,
that to enter
there seems nothing more than to disappear forever.
But there is no other way.
The river can not go back.
Nobody can go back.
To go back is impossible in existence.
The river needs to take the risk
of entering the ocean
because only then fear will disappear,
because that’s where the river will know
it’s not about disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.
Pandemic is not a word to use lightly or carelessly. It is a word if misused can cause unreasonable fear or unjustified acceptance that the fight is over, leading to unnecessary suffering and death.
Fear is universal. We all have experienced being held captive by own terrors . But nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less. It’s high time to share our courage with others.
